HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT BESTIES?
I know
everyone has heard the term besties, but have you heard about the product
Besties? No? Well, let me introduce you to the greatest thing since Grande
latte’s. No, it’s not a new coffee product or food product, but for some people
it’s a very important product for embarrassing issues that up to now most
products just didn’t handle properly.
So how does
Besties make their life easier? Up to this point, most people have relied on
diapers, tampons or pads to help with their monthly periods or daily incontinence.
But, Besties founder and CEO Bernadette Sava knew there had to be a better way.
So, she had an idea in 2004 for underwear for extra protection. But what makes
Besties different from other products is, there is a built-in pouch to hold the
moisture away from the body which helps prevent rashes and bacteria buildup. And
they are so soft, they can be worn in comfort all day long. Oh, did I mention
they are washable and reusable unlike diapers, pads and tampons. Don’t worry a
glove and bag is included with each purchase to remove the inserts and
replacing them is easy as pie even if you have arthritis. There are videos
available to show you how easy it is, but a quick explanation is it’s in layers
depending on the type of protection you need. There is layer one called batting
#1 which is necessary for every pair worn because it magically holds the
moisture in the pouch for you. Then, if you need light protection, the terry
cloth material will be placed on top of batting #1 and you’re good to go. If
you need more protection, you will first place batting #1 on the bottom of the
pouch and then use the sponge material which is very effective at capturing the
moisture and holding it. Those with heavy periods will love this as it doesn’t
need to be replaced for hours. The final suggestion for traveling or longer
times between changes is to place the batting #1, then the sponge, then batting
#2 which is cotton that can be spread out as a third layer and in many cases if
changed promptly will be the only layer needing to be removed keeping the rest
of the material dry and comfy. All of the inserts can be washed and re-used as
well, except batting #2 which will need to be tossed after each use.
Originally
it was designed for women, but when Bernadette went to an invention convention,
men told her they could use them for prostate issues and others said they could
be used for incontinence so, she decided to create more for men and for mild to
moderate incontinence because there is too much urine in some cases for an underwear
product to hold. She also figured parents can benefit from Besties while potty
training their children as they can still be used after they are done potty
training without the inserts.
Someone also
gave her the idea for leakproof nursing bras which was the next task she
undertook and she decided to throw in a nursing swimsuit for good measure.
The last
apparel product she threw into the mix was shoes she designed with a
manufacturer in Italy. If you’d like to see and learn more, just hop on over to
